The Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds Impressions

Ok, so I am pretty close to finishing the story in this game and let me tell you something, this game is awesome.  This is one of the first games that I played solely in 3D.  I usually always play in 2D.  The effects of 3D seem to be just perfect, it's not too much and it's noticeable that it is on.  I would have to say it is one of the best games to play in 3D.
When playing this game order does not matter, for the most part.  When starting out you have to places to go to and you can chose, go to the Zora domain, or to the mountains.  Turns out you need to do a little bit of both in order to get into the first dungeon.  Once you make it in the other world it does open it up for me freedom.  The only thing is you do need to finish some dungeons before you are able to enter another world because you will find items needed in those dungeons.  Say you want to go to the Skull Woods, well you can't until you get the Titan's Mitt which is found in one of the other dungeons.  Maybe they do this because those dungeons are a bit more different and they want you to be more prepared.
The main items used in this game can be rented out from your house from a character that you helped out, (you help him he takes over your house).  The majority of the items can be rented for cheap, if you die you lose those items that you rented.  After a while in the game he will let you buy the items.  Once you buy the items you keep them regardless if you fall in battle.  This is an interesting way of doing items, and it works.  Another thing, with each item is that you have an infinite amount of that item.  How much you can use is based off of your stamina bar.  Some items use more and some use less.  Each time you use an item some of  your stamina decreases.  Once your stamina has been depleted you must wait for some of it to come back before you can use the item again.  Also, merging uses stamina, so you must be careful when you are merging and using items.
I would have to say this is a great game.  I am kind of sad that it will be over for me soon.

Super Mario 3D World

Oh man can you believe it that Bowser is at it again.  What is it that he is up to this time?  While exploring the Mushroom Kingdom Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toadstool come across a mysterious clear pipe that is clear (and broken).  So what is a plumber to do but to fix a pipe.  So Luigi and Mario fixed it up and out popped a strange thing never seen before (a Sprixie) and told them that Bowser is capturing all of the other Sprixie in the Sprixie Kingdom.
If you remember this game you will know exactly how each character plays in this game, plus the one secret character in the game (which I have not even gotten yet).  Mario is the all around character, Luigi jumps higher (just like in New Super Luigi U), Peach can float for a short distance, and Toadstool and run fast.  With their special differences, they also lose some other things.  For instance Luigi has slippery feet, Peach is slow, and Toadstool can't jump very well.
Of course with any Mario game you get a lot of the familiar power ups, plus some new ones.  For the return items we have; the Star, Mega Mushroom, Mushroom, Fire Flower, Boomerang Flower, Super Leaf, Invincible Super Leaf (For when you die a lot in a level), and a Propeller Box.  The new items are the Cat Suit, which you could guess puts you in a cat suit.  As a cat you are able to climb up walls a certain distance, do a melee type attack and to a kind of flying attack.  There is also a Cannon Box (which the you are able to shoot cannons).  And there is the Double Cherry, with this you are able to multiply yourself up to five times.  There is a skate that I jumped into once called Kuribo's Skate (for the ice levels).  There is also a Lucky Bell, and a Goomba Suit.  These two I don't really know much about since I haven't ran into these yet.
Of course if you are reading this most likely you probably know most of this already, some maybe not.  Currently I am only on the fourth world of the game.  Up until the third it seemed pretty easy, even though I couldn't find any of the secret exits.  In each stage there are three stars to collect, some are easy to find and some are hidden well.  I am missing a few stars that I will have to go back and get.  Also in each stage is a hidden stamp that you can then use in the Mii Verse (only when using that game) while posting.  When I was seeing posts I thought it was awesome how well some people could draw, then I realized that most of them were using stamps.
The overworld is different compared to other Mario games, where you can walk around the whole map, rather than on the line that the levels are on.  True you can only complete one level at a time (with except of the split level option), but this makes traveling a lot better, and refreshing.
So far I have only played multiplayer with one other person.  Just adding one person makes it kind of easier, and kind of more difficult at the same time.  It makes it easier since you have two people to take on the world, but it makes it harder because both of you could be fighting each other.  I bet when it comes to four people (like when playing New Super Mario Bros U) would become an insane competition between you and your friends.
I like how different each Mario game seems to be.  The formula never gets old, and there is always something new to experience in each game.  My Brother is such an idiot, since he hates cats he wont play this game.  This is a must play game whether you like Mario or not.  The only thing that I was thinking would be in the game but is not; is the triple jump.  I think it would have been completely perfect if that was included in the gameplay.  This is a great game and everyone who is anyone should get this game.  If you don't have a Wii U either get one or find someone who does and play this game.
I don't know why I am including this, but hey it is related in some way I would think.  Nyan Mario

Progress on Rayman Legends

This game just gets harder and harder.  So far I have 379 Teensies saved.  I beat up to the final stage area, since I need 400 Teensies to open that up.  I have been going back and trying to beat the Legends levels before I go and play the origins levels, but I may just have to go and do that in order to get my 400 Teensies.

What I Think of Puppeteer So Far

So I started up Puppeteer yesterday.  I made it through the first chapter and so far it is good.  I really wish I could understand what was going on in the game since there is a lot of dialog in some spot and during these times my fiance would be talking, so I missed out on that.
You are a puppet who has been recently revived and are asked if you are going to be friends with Little Bear.  You say yes, but he does not believe you and bites your head off and throws you in the dungeon.  You then are sent to find the magical scissor Calibrus.  After obtained the scissors the scissors refuse the Witch and sees Kutaro as its only master.  So it is up to Kutaro to save the Moon Realm.  This is the plot all summed up on what is going on in the game.
So how do you play this game if you don't have a head?  You get heads, that's how.  In each level there are areas that use a specific head, it is up to you to go through with the right head and find out those secrets.  Some times those secrets help you out, or you find a secret level.  Unfortunately you can only hold up to three heads at a time.  So when you are going through a level for the first time it is mere luck if you have the right heads to make the level easier or not.
I guess this game has the ability to have motion controls, but since I don't have those I just use the regular controller.  This game actually feels very well built.  The controls work and it doesn't feel like you would mess up based on missing a button or something like that (until you get to some of the QT events).
You are controlling a character in a puppet theater (which is a very cool concept).  I have never been to a puppet theater, but playing this game makes me have a very good idea of what it would be like (plus I have seen some in films).  The switching of scenes (which would probably take way longer in real life) is cool, as props are dropped out and other ones are brought in.
I am pretty happy with this game so far and look forward to playing the rest of it.

Rayman Legends Impressions

The first day I played this I played until I was able to rescue 100 of the Teensies.  It is a good thing that there is something else to do in the game than to just run and get as many points possible in the level.  If it weren't for them this may have been a short lived game.
I don't really understand the story of this game.  I guess it has been a century since Origins took place (all the while they were sleeping).  During this time the nightmares grew worse and the Magician split into 5 Dark Teensies.  So then you must jump into paintings and take on each level.
Most of the levels in this game are beyond awesome.  Sometimes I would just want to stop and look at the levels, but would often times die if I did so.  This game (for a side scroller) looks really good.
Sometimes when I play this game I get out of control when I am running.  When running (which is done often) and you change directions you are suddenly flung in the other direction.  The last stage of each level is a music themed one.  So far I have only played three of these and the second one was the most most difficult for me (it had less visual cues that the other ones).  You are able to guess when you should jump and hit based on the beat, but sometimes it is a different beat than what you are used to so it take a while to get used to it.
There is one thing that I like, but kind of don't like.  The Murphy levels.  I think the only reason I don't like these levels is because I have to hold the Wii U gamepad with one hand and tap away with the other.  Pretty poor excuse I know, but that is the only thing that I don't like about it.
Another good thing about this game (even though I must clearly suck at it) are the challenges.  You can take on other people from around the world to win trophies.  How people are able to finish a challenge in below thirty seconds is beyond me, but people are able to do it.
Over all I would have to say that I am glad that I finally got this game.  At first this was going to be a day one purchase, but then they made it a multiplatform release (just so they would get more money) and I decided to wait on getting it.  Then I got it on sale, and am enjoying it quite a lot.

Tomb Raider Impressions

Why did I wait so long to get this game.  This game is totally worth the full $59.99.  I have been playing it nearly nonstop, I didn't even want to put it down to write this.
It is probably a good thing that I went into this game with clear eyes by not having really played a previous Tomb Raider game.  This is a reboot and when it comes to reboots there are a lot of fans that complain about the changes.  I think what they did in this was just fantastic.  Since I am a fan of the Uncharted series this game fit right in.
When I started this game up I felt like I was Lara Croft.  When the ship is sinking and she is trying to jump to grasp a hand to be saved you feel yourself wishing for her to make it.  Every scene that is climatic made my heart race and hoped that everything would be alright.  When you are under ground and everything is falling down around you I started to panic myself just as Lara was.  One false step and you are done for.  Every once in a while you will be put into an action sequence where you have to wriggle the left thumb stick and most likely push the triangle button in order to make it through.  If not you will die (I have died plenty of times already).
This game looks amazing (pic of from phone), it is probably not the most pretty game out this, but it still looks awesome.  I wish it would stop having so much weather so I could just stop and look at the scenery and just take it all in.  The audio is very nice too.  Rain sounds like rain, and where it is windy it sounds like you are right there in the middle of a wind storm or tornado.  When at a camp and going through the menus it sounds cool like a flame is being moved around through wind.
I haven't tried multiplayer yet (heard it was not great), but I might try it once I beat the game.
This game is different and innovative.  Yes there is a lot of gore, but it works.  If the gore was not there you would not feel like your own life could be in danger.  I am very glad that I got this game and I will be playing this for a while.

Minish Cap Final Entry

I did it.  I finally took down Vaati and saved the Kingdom.
First thing I did was join the final element to the sword, doing this opened up a chamber and showed where to find the light force.  Unfortunately this was all a trap and Vaati was waiting for me to do just this.  He took Zelda and started to perform a ritual on her.  I needed to save her.
I worked my way through the evilly reconstructed castle to get to Vaati and take him out before Zelda was no more.  Traversing the castle was a little difficult, but the most difficult were the Darknut's.  I had to take them out in order to move on and there were a lot of them.  One by one they went down, and almost myself with them, but I finally made it through.
Vaati, what a person.  First he had eyes floating around him that I had to take out to reveal a giant eye in the middle of his body, they he transformed into a giant eye.  I don't know why anyone would want to be an eye, even if they are all powerful.  Shooting at the little orbs around him weakened him up enough where I was able to copy myself and strike.  After a few more times of this he went down.  I thought that he was done for, but after saving Zelda and running to the sanctuary I found I was wrong.  There was another battle with Vaati.  This time he had arms (still a giant eye).  After flipping his arms over and entering them minish style to destroy them it was just the eye again with four little orbs in front.  I charged up my sword and copied myself and swung when they shot to knock him silly.  A few strikes later and he was finally finished.

Minish Cap Journal Entry 6

Today was a very tiring day.  Not only did I fly to the clouds, I took down a giant flying beast.
The Palace of Winds is ginormous.  It just did not end (until I got to the end).  When you think you are near the end, there is another hallway, and another puzzle to solve.  I thought I was at the end when I went through a door with the boss key, but it was just a mini boss.  It was kind of odd since I didn't have the map, or a compass yet.  Shortly after the fight I found those.
Lots of jumping, yes I can finally jump with the help of a feather, and running I make it to the real boss door.  Let me tell you this Gyorg Pair was probably the most difficult thing I have taken down so far.  I had to split myself up, and dodge orbs flying at me.  If I got hit, I would have to do it all over again.  Eventually the Blue Gyorg went down and I just had the giant red one left.  Which was much easier.  After he went down I grabbed the element of wind and the heart container.
Time to head to the castle and take out Vaati.

I Finally Beat Skyward Sword

So today I finally did it.  I beat the game.  It only took me just over a year to just sit down and play it.  I did play the game over again, which is probably why it took me so long.

My last little bit that I had to finish today was the Sky Keep and the Final Showdown.  It took a little bit of work to go through the keep to get the triforce, but after a while I finally got all three of them and slammed the statue down to the surface to finally get rid of the terror that was below.  At least in this time I did.

There was still that past that I had to worry about.  Girahim was down there doing some kind of ritual to raise his master.  I rushed down taking out the goons along the way finally making it to the bottom.
The first part of this battle was very easy since Girahim never once struck out at me.  I just hit him towards them end, made him fall down and did a fatal blow.  Once he made it towards the ground it became a little bit more difficult.  I had to bounce his sword swipe things back at him and attack him.

Too bad all this fighting was for nothing because Demise was awakened.  Through the goodness of his heart he made a place for us to do our final battle.  After swiping at him a few times and getting blocked I finally got a hit and had to back off right away before I got hit.  I did this a lot of times before he finally went down.  The clouds instantly went dark and lightning began striking down to the ground.  He flew back up and charged his sword with a lightning strike.  I did the same thing and swung at him paralyzing him so I could strike him down.  I did this a few more times and finally took him out.

After beating the game everything makes sense now.  He said he would always curse the triangle of the triforce.  In each game we always had some sort of beast we had to take out.  What a revelation.

Minish Cap Journal Entry 5

So today I got some flippers.  I am now able to swim.  I don't know how I was not able to swim before without the help of these flippers.
I then made my way to the lake, and entered the Temple of Droplets.  Darn ice, it is so cold.
I made my way through this frozen palace and had to unfreeze the element.  Of course after I unfroze the element I unfroze a giant Octorok.  After a few bouts of my hitting his rocks back at him and then lighting his tail on fire he was out for the count.  I grabbed that element and exited this freezing hole.  Upon exiting me the King of old visited me and told me where to go next, but first I should fuze this element to my sword.
I went back to the castle and found out I couldn't go the normal way.  So I had to work my way around the guards on the West side of the Gardens.  Inside I fuzed the third element to my sword making it so I could now split into three people.  Is that cool or what?

Minish Cap Journal Entry 4

I woke up this morning and went back to town to get a few more provisions.  After I was done stocking up I went and found out that I needed to get some boots that would allow me to run fast so I went to the shoe shop and got a few things for this guy to finally get some Pegasus boots.  I then traveled to castor wilds and ran through the marsh and eventually made my way to wild ruins and once I made it to the ruins I finally found the fortress of winds.  In the fortress of wind there was a ton of sand piled up and some very interesting new enemies and the final boss was a giant head with two hands that I had to shoot the hands with an arrow so then they would fall down and then eventually I could shrink and enter the head I take it out.  Course after I beat the giant head guy there was no element here because the original people really all this aria is too dangerous to keep this year so we're going to take to the sky.  I exited the temple and got an ocarina of wind so now I'm able to teleport 2 those symbols that I've seen.
